Geek Brunch 120 – Beware the Radiation Brick

Welcome back to Geek Brunch, your one stop shop for vegetarian non meat in a tube. Don’t ask me, ask the vegans. This week we’re down a man as Mike is flying somewhere. Don’t worry, Bill still isn’t allowed to finish a sentence without interruption. We attempt to talk about books like Ross Campbell’s Shadoweyes and all six hundred Return of Bruce Wayne books. Watch out for the Lion’s pullout method. It’ll get ya. Also, we rap about a few good movies like “The Get” and “Salt.” God save Netflix and second run theaters.

Geek Brunch 119 – That’s What Makes it so Damn Sexy!

We kick off the show with a rousing spoilerific (and explicit) critic of Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist! Do you know what the ending means? We don’t! Then we do a full 180, and review the titillating action flick Bitch Slap, and the rather strange Gentlemen Broncos! Surveillance does; I hate those. We also discuss Survival of the Dead, The Social Network, Bitten, Shutter Island, and Catfish. Then we move on to reviews of many of the new TV shows, including Hawaii 5-0, Raising Hope, Outsourced, Chase, S* my Dad Says and the new seasons of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Brave and the Bold, and Clone Wars. Then we’re on to comics with reviews of Ode to Kirihito, Taskmaster #1, Tumor HC, Chew Volume 2, Victorian The Undead, Crossed, Hack Slash, and Superf*ckers! Join Mike, Bill, and Micah on one of our most vulgar episodes ever! Plus, pot roast! And which sugar is best for you! We also bring up how to teach kids sports.

Geek Brunch 118 – Archie Big Long and Hard and Micah Eats A Sheep

Mike, Micah and Bill bring on the comic talk with some discussion of Top Cow’s Pilot Season, What is Neil Adams Smoking, Zenoscope’s Inferno, Brightest Day, Some Golden Age Comics Love with All Star Comics and Superman, Usagi Yojimbo, Board Games, Food, New Fall Season, The Last Exorcism, AntiChrist, Expendables and much much more. Geek Brunch destroys not one but TWO of Bill’s computers. Join us for some fun!

Geek Brunch 117 – Riverdale Life Stresses Me Out and a Can of Farts

Welcome to Geek Brunch 117 where Mike, Bill, and Micah are joined by Keith Knudsen and we talk Baltimore Con, many different Comics, some TV and quite a few movies. Join us for this extra long extravaganza. See how Keith leaves an Orc Stain on the episode with some CBGB talk and how the hell did Cleopatra end up in SPACCCCCCCCCCCCCCEE. Bill is digging the Italian comics from GG studios because of the Brothels and brings on some Morning Glory. Mike goes off on a huge Vampire Kick with American Vampire, Dracula Company of Monsters, X-men and True Blood. Micah shares some Cary Bates love of Superman and talks about how to play Soccer from Manga. Plus Ninjas vs. Zombies and Machete love. Join us for laughs and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geek Brunch Episode 116

Micah, Mike and Bill jump right in and start discussing Wizard World Chicago, The After Effects of Wisdom Tooth Extraction, some more Manga talk, and plenty of Comic Book, TV and movie discussion. Some Comics discussed are Secret Avengers, 28 Days Later, Mouse Guard, Power Girl and much much more.

Geek Brunch 115 – Cameo Edition

Welcome ladies and gentlemen! These are the shownotes! Here is normally where some of the fascinating topics discussed on the current episode are laid out in front of you to further your excitement for the broadcast. The smart thing to do for this is to take notes during the show what happens, for the first time in ever, that happened! Then Google Docs ate them. And really, who wants to be bothered trying to remember what we talked about, but here’s my best attempt. Bill and Micah talk a bout COMIC BOOKS! (Some good, some not bad). Then we are joined by special guest talker _____! Then Bill and Micah talked a bout MANGA! (Some of the Manga was really really good.) Then there’s talk of sports! SPORTS?! Yes, sports. And movies. Those happened, and television may have happened, maybe not. Then something to do with Brunch showed up as well. Overall, super great. I have a great idea, you just listen to the show and find out. I bet you’ll like it.

Geek Brunch 114: Rollin on Percocet

This episode of Geek Brunch is a celebratory roller coaster ride of awesome. Mr. Myers makes a triumphant return to Geek Brunch! To celebrate, here’s a list of things that may or may not be learned by listening to this episode. Batman: Odyssey is not a retelling of the Homer story with Batman in it. (That would make it better). Friday Night Lights works without football. Inception isn’t an accurate movie. Nothing I dream about (money, cars, girls) is in that movie. Tom Hanks is going to play Superman in 1994, and he’ll solve cancer. I wrote the script. Want to stick it to the man? Have your wisdom teeth taken out. Everything that ever went wrong in the world (all those wars and genocide and stuff?) all the cause of two semi-immortal British kids. Riverdale is soon to be home to some serious racial discussions, possibly riots. Food is best when drizzled down the throat.

Geek Brunch Episode 113 – We Don’t Listen To Apes

First off, just in case stuff goes down, this episode actually didn’t happen. We do not encourage the burning down of one’s place of employment just due to an unfriendly working environment. Not cool. In other news, Micah and Bill continue to tag team it in Mike unfortunate absence. Bill brings the new with books like “Sea Bear and Grizzly Shark” while Micah takes a trip back to the 70s with “Richard Dragon Kung Fu” Fighter. We’re lighter on tv and movies this week, but that just gives us more time to concentrate on two documentaries with very different feelings about “Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage” and “Until the Light Takes Us.”
Don’t forget to catch us on twitter, facebook, or through email. Also, Give us a five star iTunes rating whether you like us or not. It’s just the polite thing to do.

Geek Brunch 112 โ€“ So Daggone Hot (FIXED)

NOTE: This is the same as the original file but in both channels.

This one gets a bit up in the air. It’s about million degrees and super muggy in both Chicago and Charlotte at the time of this recording. Mike is doing his best to keep his company alive single handedly, so It’s up to Bill and Micah to handle the show. Even without Mike we get a strong dose of DC Comics with appearances from Arion Lord of Atlantis and Moonshadow. Both well known DC properties. We also go over Marvel’s 76 Avengers books that are relaunching. Micah reads a book that doesn’t exist (why my store has it I don’t know. I’ll let you guess which one it is). We cover cool Manga (and their good translation work) like Twin Spica and Dororo). We also delve into some hard hitting movies like Hurt Locker and Toy Story 3. Hopefully you can enjoy this podcast in much cooler, dryer weather!
